I am a Secretary of the Interior Qualified Registered Professional Archeologist (RPA) and have experience under Section 106 and CEQA in both the private and the federal sectors. I have worked primarily in California (Coastal, Sierran, and Desert) with additional work in the Southern Great Basin and Utah. DZC is a California certified Small Business (SBE) and DBE, and a Woman-Owned Small Business (WBE) registered supplier with the California Public Utilities Commission and the Federal Government.
Company strengths include project management, field crew supervision, technical report writing, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). We can assess impacts and mitigating adverse effects for a variety of project types including facility citing, fuel reduction, alternative and traditional energy, municipal maintenance, transportation, and recreation. We are experienced with a variety of prehistoric resources, and specialize in historic logging, mining, and agricultural landscapes. My personal interests within archaeology include ceramics (pre-historic and historic), basketry, and ethno-botanical topics. In the last two years, I have also been conducting geoarchaeological assessments and engaged in business development efforts including proposals aimed at the municipal, state, and federal sectors.
I really enjoy “public archaeology,” and have been involved in archaeology interpretation and education in museums, academic labs, a PIT rock art recordation project, and have trained volunteer site stewards on public lands.
I exhibit sound leadership, fiscal responsibility, and excellent managerial skills. I promote team cohesion and efficiency to produce a quality, on-time product. I deal well with rapidly changing situations that require immediate decisions and am adept at working with interdisciplinary teams such as federal and tribal agencies, and construction craft teams.
Ms. Shaw-Petyo has years of cultural resources management experience, with expertise in California, Oregon, Washington, Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio, Kansas, and Louisiana. Her experience ranges from field work to comprehensive analysis and report writing. She has experience negotiating local, state, and federal regulations in support of land development, state and local, renewable energy, transmission, transportation, and oil and gas projects.
